2019 Ram Laramie Choose Your Engine
The Laramie has a standard 3.6 liter V6 engine paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission. There is an available 5.7 liter V8 engine that can also be paired with the 8 speed automatic transmission. Every Ram 1500, except the Classic, can be equipped with the electric motor-assisted eTorque V6 or V8 engine. The eTorque system is designed to decrease fuel consumption. It is basically a generator attached to the crankshaft, and it has the ability to add torque, use regenerative braking to make electricity or crank the engine in a stop/start situation. The 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 engine is equipped standard with the eTorque system, and it is an optional feature for the 5.7 liter Hemi V8. The V6’s eTorque is liquid cooled while the V8 features air-cooled eTorque. The V6 eTorque is reverse mounted while the V8 has a top mounted eTorque system. Both use a 48 volt lithium-ion battery along with a DC to DC converter to charge the electrical system as well as run it. This battery is air-cooled and is mounted behind the rear seat.

The Ram 1500 series has a new boxed frame made of high strength and ultra high strength steel. The new frame is lighter with specialized areas to accommodate the coil-spring rear suspension system. There are active damper modules attached to the frame to help reduce vibrations. The reduced vibration along with active noise cancellation technology provides you with a smooth, relatively quiet ride.
