The core design of the Jeep Wrangler can be traced back to the Willy’s MB of World War II. After the war, Willy’s began manufacturing the civilian jeep or CJ. In 1986, the CJ became the Jeep Wrangler. The original jeeps were designed for weekend fun, but the Wrangler added comfort features to make it a good choice as a daily driver. In 2018, the fourth generation of the Jeep Wrangler was introduced. The 2019 model continues to combine comfort with ruggedness to offer drivers the nearly endless possibilities that have become synonymous with the Wrangler.
MotorTrend SUV of the Year
The Jeep Wrangler beat 35 competitors to win the title of MotorTrend SUV of the Year for 2019. There were six categories in which Jeep led the competition: safety and security, value, performance, engineering excellence, advancement in design and efficiency. According to MotorTrend, “The new Jeep Wrangler is what crossovers want to be when they grow up.”
Exterior
At first glance the 2019 Wrangler is unmistakably a Jeep. At the front a seven-slot grille is combined with round headlamps to maintain the iconic look. The “bolt-on” appearance of the tail lamps and the full size spare tire on the rear elevation continue to maintain the aesthetic look of the classic Jeep. Maintaining the classic style of the Wrangler while upgrading some exterior features has given drivers a more convenient way to enjoy the open road in a Jeep. The fold down windshield on the new model is simpler to use by only removing four bolts rather than the 28 that needed removal on earlier models. An available Sky One-Touch Power Top allows drivers to open the roof in approximately 20 seconds by simply touching a button. For the ultimate open air experience the rear-quarter windows can be removed easily, the doors are removable, and there are hard top, soft top and no top options available.
Interior
The exterior ruggedness of the 2019 Wrangler does not detract from the interior comfort and convenience of the vehicle. Connectivity is important for today’s adventurous drivers, and Jeep recognizes the importance of keeping drivers in touch with the world. There is an available UConnect 4C Nav with an 8.4 inch intuitive touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto connectivity. Sirius XM All Access, Bluetooth connectivity, integrated Voice Command and navigation features are also included with the UConnect 4C option. With the available 4G WiFi Hotspot feature up to eight devices can connect to WiFi to decrease boredom on road trips. The available 7-inch Digital Cluster Display provides important details on speed, navigation and active safety and security features as well as radio information without removing driver’s focus from the road ahead. The Wrangler is designed for easy interior clean up after a day of fun in the dirt. Removable carpet and one-way floor drain valves allow for interior dirt and mud to be simply washed away.
