The Dodge and Chevrolet rivalry is just about as old as the Ford vs Chevrolet debate. With the introduction of the Ram 1500, Dodge has made its presence known in the full size truck market as a worthy contender against the Silverado. Dodge’s V8 Hemi engine has paved the way for their pickup trucks and has helped provide job sites with a powerful truck that is the perfect combination of rugged and comfortable that has gone toe to toe with the tried and true Silverado.

Comparing the 2019 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Chevy Silverado shows you just how these two stack up when it comes to engine, exterior, and interior features.

Engine

Full size pickup trucks are, for the most part, used to help out around the job site and on the ranch. Having a motor capable of performing the tasks at hand make the job much easier and lucky for you, Dodge and Chevrolet have offered up many different engine options to choose from on the Ram and Silverado that make building the right truck much easier. Let’s take a look at the different engine options and what kind of horsepower and torque you can expect from each.

When building your 2019 Dodge Ram, you get to choose from 3 engines to outfit your new truck. These engines include:

3.6L V6 (305 Horsepower & 269 Torque)

5.7L Hemi V8 (395 Horsepower & 410 Torque)

5.7L Hemi V8 w/ eTorque (395 Horsepower & 410 Torque)

As for the Silverado, you will have your choice of 5 different engine configurations for your truck. These include:

4.3L EcoTec3 V6 Engine (285 Horsepower & 305 Torque)

5.3L EcoTec3 V8 Engine w/ DFM (355 Horsepower & 383 Torque)

6.2L EcoTec3 V8 Engine (420 Horsepower & 460 Torque)

Exterior

If you have seen previous year model Silverados and Rams, you will easily notice that many of the same features have been carried over and can immediately recognize each for the 2019 model. The main difference is going to be personal preference when it comes to how you like your trucks to look.

The Silverado has an unmistakable box style look that really shows the rugged yet technologically advanced features while the Ram carries over its smoother, more luxurious looks. This has always been a topic of debate when it comes to comparing the two as the Silverado’s larger body style has been a hate it or love it type of look.

Interior

As for the interior, both trucks feature a new design, more legroom, and updated technology. With the Silverado, you are going to find rear seat storage that is a huge plus for those wanting more interior storage space. As for the Dodge Ram, you are going to get upgraded options not found on many trucks such as a panoramic sunroof and heated/cooled/reclining rear seats for the ultimate car driving experience.
