Family vacations are exciting and wonderful opportunities to make memories and bond with each other. Vacations should be a time where everyone can let go and be free. Safety first, however. It's totally normal to be concerned about safety especially while traveling with children. Here are a few tips to help keep you safe on your upcoming travels.

At The Airport

Travel light to keep from having to keep track of so many belongings when traveling as a family. Utilize curbside check-in to avoid long lines. Always keep an eye on your carryon and never leave it unattended. Join the pre-screening services offered by the TSA to bypass the longer general screening process.

At The Hotel

Choose a room on an upper floor. Make sure locks on windows and adjoining doors are secure. Always know where your closest safety exits are in case of an emergency. Keep valuables in a safe and hang up the do not disturb sign while you're out to keep staff from entering your room.

On The Road

If you are traveling to another country, familiarize yourself with the driving climate of your destination. When you arrive, pay close attention to all road signs, if the signs are in a different language this will make things more challenging. To avoid being detected as a tourist, practice with your rental car controls and features before driving it.

Sight-Seeing

Attach identification to your child including your name, contact details, and hotel information. You can attach this information to the inside of their clothes. Dress like a local. Don't wear expensive items or carry flashy electronics. Always keep a close eye on your bags especially in crowded spaces. Carry your cash, identification and credit cards in a secured pocket just in case you lose your main bag.
